About Us
The North Albany American Legion Post has loyal members living in 5 states around the country. Of course, we have quite a few “snowbirds” that make the migration to warmer climates each year. We also have several members serving around the world.
We welcome all interested veterans to become members of our American Legion Post and the world’s largest veterans organization. Our dues are $45 for a regular membership or $42 if you are age 62 or older and retired. We also sponsor the membership of those presently serving our nation on active duty. Your membership will gain your entry into hundreds of Legion posts around the country.
We would be happy to send you an application for membership. Just call (518) 465-4800 and leave your name, address and telephone number. Members of NY State Post 1, which only exists on paper, are invited to call for a transfer form to belong to North Albany Post.

History
The North Albany Post was formed in late 1946 by a number of individuals returning from their military service. The original idea was to name the Post after one of the local heroes that had made the supreme sacrifice. With 17 casualties from the neighborhood, which one do you choose? Logic finally prevailed and the new club was named for the neighborhood with plaques honoring the war dead. We now display several memorial plaques honoring the war dead of all the wars since our inception. We also have a memorial board remembering the names of our departed members.
